Music
ASTROLOGYI grew up playing piano. I would even play Christmas songs for the family around the holidays. Then when I was 13 I quit taking lessons and playing. I also quit band that year. I loved artists like Eminem, 50 cent, and ice cube. I kept listening to music passionately but it wasn't until I went to SEA that I bought a harmonica and started playing again. I started eventually playing guitar, violin, drum and returned to the piano quite seriously. The modern musical scale is was an invention by the Pythagoreans. They made a system where music could be recorded and this system was spread even to India by the Romans. These days I start and end my day with some kirtan. Play a little ukulele and sometimes the harmonica. Music is not my main passion in life. Although, when I am behind the instrument all my pain floats away and I am lost in the sound and the task. You get to make the sound that you truly want to project or hear. I really love my daily kirtan starting the day with Jaya Ganesha in the morning. Setting my intention and purifying energies that I have collected. I want to share a verse from jaya ganesha. Aanandoham aanandogam aanandam brahm aanaandamI am bliss I am bliss, bliss absolute bliss I am Putting words into the air manifests and prepares the world for your existence. When I was in Mexico my friend Eric taught me a lot about rhythm. On guitar it doesn't even matter if you are hitting good chords as long as the beat is fresh and creative. There is so much power in the right hand and its less intellectual and more instinct. I start and end the day with meditation and chanting. The rest of the day I am listening to Manu chao, Kanye West, reggaetoneros like bud bunny and electronic music. I once thought that all sound could be music. The thing that makes it music is the beat. There should be so existence of rhythm. An engine that is misfiring is not music while a healthy engine is music.I do morning and evening Satsang by myself. This is an act of bhakti yoga. Immediate for a few minutes then chant the daily chant and others that I am inclined towards. Aside from connecting me with the divine there are many benefits. The mediation calms and clears the mind. And the chanting raises spirits, allows pathways of energies, manifests futures, and reaffirms my self. Also having some time set aside at the important times of day being sunrise and sunset allowed some routine and stability when things are difficult. The experience of playing and singing music is yoga. You feel such harmony with your body and mind. The trance is heavier on the musician than the listener. Music is energy therapy. Different songs evoke different emotions. Ordinary music is good for a normal life. While classical music was made for kings. Devotional music quickly connects you with the divine.Best songs of the last 100 year 1960s - Blackbird, The Beatles1970s - Stairway to heaven, Led Zepplin1980s - Under pressure, Queen1990s - Killing in the name, Rage against the machine2000s - Family business, Kanye West2010s - Robbery, Juice Wrld 2020s - Anakin, Juice Wrld
